  • Choose a picture that is a close up. Pick one where you able to see your eyes. I know it's hard on such a small space but it's amazing how much your eyes tell about you.
  • What are your initial thoughts when you first look at the picture? Remember a picture is worth a thousand words.
  • What is something you like about it and something you dislike about it?
I designed our own pass-along cards but if you do not have Photoshop or any print design skills, I would suggest finding a designer. I know of some people who have used Spaces for Faces. They are very reasonably priced.
I wish on our pass-along cards we would have included some number for either the agency (since caseworkers do change) or our toll-free adoption number. There are situations where people do not have access to the Internet at the time or simply don't like using the Internet.

Usage Ideas
Not only can you use your pass-along cards this way, but also let those who receive them know that they can use them these ways too. We included this in a letter along with our pass-along cards to our family and friends. It simply stated our desire to adopt and how they could use the cards.
  • Slip one in any letter or bill that you send out
  • Holiday cards: Christmas, New Years, Valentine’s, Fourth of July
  • Hang them up where’er you go: grocery stores, apartment complexes, car washes, community bulletin boards, etc.
  • Keep them handy in your wallet or purse.
  • Staying in tune for opportunities to share!
  • Asking trusted family and friends to share them as well.
  • Leave a pass along card with your bill at restaurants.
  • If you see a “business card” drop box, drop one in.
  • If someone asks about your family, pull out a “family photo” conveniently disguised as a pass along card and leave it with them. Perfect opportunity to talk about your desire to adopt.

Using YouTube is another way to promote your adoption. Agencies like Bethany Christian Services are asking their adoptive couples to create a video profile and post it on YouTube.  Here is an example video.
